A Few notes on Benazir

*The few hopes I had for Iraq and Afghanistan rested with one woman, Benazir Bhutto, who was assassinated. Any hopes of peace anytime soon in the Pakistani-Afghani border conflict, died with her. I will be including the entire Parade article that came out on Janurary 6, 2008 intact. By that time, Bhutto was already dead and the theories about how she died were being circulated through the news. She died December 26, 2007, the day after Christmas.

Notes from that period, the wonderful (and bloody) period when I wrote these notes:
Is Bhutto an apostate (as Islamists call it) ruler, the epitome of a pro-Western pawn in the game of the U.S. and their allies (who wish to suppress Muslims in the M. East)?

read for yourself if you like & view images: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Benazir_Bhutto
Let's see if I can find you a video: http://www.youtube.com/watch#playnext=1&playnext_from=TL&videos=4UccnhaAgis&v=Y_vXFN3SViY

Notes: Her return to power (as an incumbent) was followed by a scheming method of pro-Western pro-Democratic rhetoric, which was only a facade. In actuality, she initiated a program to consolidate the Islamic bloc's (Iranian led) power, along with Trans-Asian axis, which was dominated by People's Replublic of China, & stretching from Mediterranean to Northeast Asia, intensifying strategic cooperation with North Korea and Iran. Pakistan would play the role of center for military developments and production for the bloc for hard currency obtained through the drug trade, also acquiring sophisticated Western technologies/industrial systems, nuclear weapons production technol. held West at bay (relax) while acquiring necessary items

Bhutto supported decisions of Sheikh Turabi's PAIC conference in Khartoum aimed at aimed struggle against the West she promised not to attack Islamism or Islamic law, & Islamabad's committment to cause (even anti-Indian jihad in Kashmir) *unalienable tenet of Pakistan
Bhutto's Islamabad would continue to pursue the Islamist policies

Afghan camps were under control of ISI Prince Turki bin Faisal of Saudi intelligence offered a deal to Bhutto - in exchange for their lobbying in Washington and financial assistance - if the ISI contained the Saudi Afghans, while Saudis worked to repeal Pressler Ammendment (which imposed sanctions including cessation of all military assistance/deliveries because of its military nuclear program), public relations blitz of Pakistan's crackdown just ISI limiting ability of Saudi "Afghans" to travel to MidEast Islamabad had no intention of honoring bin Laden was at subsequent PAIC meeting in Khartoum

(Benazir, Zinbabd) Long...live...Benazir!) Twice ruled, twice overthrown
picking up on the videos (few weeks earlier a blast kills 170 of her supporters atop a truck - she smiles serenely
campaigning uprotected (in hindsight that probably wasn't a good idea)
late father, Zulfikar Bhutto populist reformer, first democratic prime minister, hanged when Bhutto was 25, overthrown by military in 96 because he pledged a terrorism crackdown
military (rule) or militancy - or democratic rule under PPP Bhutto - allegedly siphoned funds from U.N. Oil-For-Food Program.

*U.S. now works to suppress the ISI - which CIA helped with support - Bhutto tried to break ISI in reemergence to power "America has awakened to what we were already flighting - Islamic jihadis" Bhutto said.
{Broke promise} not to return to Pakistan until after national elections returned to country Oct. 18, 2007 - first suicide attempt - bomb wired to an infant that a man had been trying to hand her - another blast followed - bits of brain and flesh and fingers from 20 members of Benazir's Brigade (so-called) young guards wear red shirts proclaiming - "I give my life for Bhutto" - reminiscent of Trash Can Man in King's The Stand.
-no investigation mounted by Musharraf gov't after bombing "We must be out on the streets, or the terrorists win" Bhutto attack by Islamic extremists
"We don't want a dead Benazir on our hands. She'd be just another unlikely martyr we don't need"
American's strongest anchor - Bhutto??

**********"I now think al-qaeda can be marching on Islamabad in 2-4 years"

Most likely Baitollah Mehsud, believed to be behind 19 suicide bombings in Pakistan - behind Bhutto assasination
-black-bearded, slow talking tribal leader, Mehsud clan
-mountainous badlands northwest corner of Pakistan an al-qaeda, Afghan Taliban & outlawed Pakistani jihadists
-snookered Musharraf out of hundreds of thousands of dollars - peace deal reneged
-travels in convoy of pickups protected by 2 dozen heavily armed guards
-nomad - never in same bed twice
face never photographed
-Mullah Omar - is his role model / Baitoulla & Zawahri had dispatched bombers to Karachi, Peshawar, Lahore, Islamabad & Rawalpindi - she was killed in Rawalpindi
-Zawahri yearns to disrupt (destabilize) Pakistan & destroy Turkey & Indonesia's democracies
-promoted after predator drone killed Nek Mohammad
-named Baitullah head of newly formed Taliban movement in Pakistan
-runs nationwide network of trucking & transfer reaching into borderlands (cities like Karachi - allowing him to move men & weapons through Pakinstan)
